God’s Mission

 Mark 16:15

“And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.’”

I recently spoke to one of the younger members of the congregation. She said she would love to hear about my role as a Children and Families worker. So, I will share it with you all.

On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, I visit Lache, Saltney Ferry and Wood Memorial primary schools to spread the gospel, in a child-friendly way.  I share this task with Hennie and Matt. It’s always a positive start to a new day.  It can be entertaining as you never quite know how the children will reply to your questions!

One of the children from Lache Primary asked her auntie to bring her to church as she had really enjoyed the assemblies.  Hopefully, more children will follow too.

Wednesday mornings are spent with the Baby and Toddlers group.  I work with an excellent team who volunteer each week and give their time, so willingly.  We held a Christmas Sing-Along in church.  Hennie welcomed everyone and gave a final blessing.  We invited Nature’s Nook, Pre-School children to join us.  Building on the strong community links and sharing the First Christmas story.  This could have been the children’s very first experience of being inside a church.  They enjoyed looking at the gorgeous window displays.

Isaiah 9:6

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

Sunday mornings are spent with the children.  Playing games, sharing stories, having discussions and participating in craft activities.  Another amazing group of volunteers help, on a rota basis.  In a relaxed setting the children feel more comfortable to chat.

We have used Rooted Junior to explore the children’s feelings and emotions. Now more than ever everyone should feel safe to share how they are feeling and know that we are all there to support and guide them.

Depending on the time of the year.  There will be activities to plan for Harvest, Light Party, Remembrance Sunday, Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day and Pentecost, to name a few.  I enjoy that no two days are ever the same in my role!

I would like to thank all the wonderful people at St. Mark’s Church who welcomed me and who continue to give so generously to the work of God.

2 Corinthians 9:7

‘Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.’

Blessings
