Father, I Place Into Your Hands
I asked God what He wanted to say and He reminded me of this song. It’s a song we used to sing at school. It’s simple and I imagine many of you know it.
Father, I place into your hands the things I cannot do, Father, I place into your hands the things that I've been through. Father, I place into your hands the way that I should go, for I know I always can trust you.
Father, I place into your hands my friends and family. Father, I place into your hands the things that trouble me. Father, I place into your hands the person I would be, for I know I always can trust you.
Father, we love to see your face, we love to hear your voice. Father, we love to sing your praise and in your name rejoice. Father, we love to walk with you and in your presence rest, for we know we always can trust you.
Father, I want to be with you and do the things you do. Father, I want to speak the words that you are speaking too. Father, I want to love the ones that you will draw to you, for I know that I am one with you.
Hopefully by the time you are reading this we will be out and about, meeting people we haven’t seen for a long time. Hugging friends and family. Rejoicing in being with our loved ones again – I feel like I have written and said this so many times over the last 18 months!!!
Read the words again. Slowly. As a prayer.
As you read them think over the last 18 months when there may have been times you may have leant on God just to get out of bed. When you have asked God to hold your family because you couldn’t. When you have rejoiced in spending time with Him in your garden. Maybe it’s a prayer seeking to be nearer God, seeing him afresh.
I have known this song for many years but as God spoke to me it felt like I was hearing it again for the first time. And I pray that as you read this you get a new sense of who God is and the promises that He gives.
