Creative Friends Blog
We have been asked, “Who are you?”, “What do you knit?”, “What do you do with all the knitting?”. Well, here we go to answer your questions.
Creative Friends is a wonderful group of ladies who meet on the second Saturday of every month. They are all gifted in so many ways but especially in knitting. They inspire me very much with what they knit and their enthusiasm to help those who are in need. Each piece of knitting is done with love and shows God’s love to all who receive it.
The knitted garments and blankets are sent far and wide:
Baby clothes to the neonatal department at the Countess of Chester Hospital, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and the Women’s Hospital in Liverpool.
Blankets and baby clothes for the refugees in Syria – this is through ‘SHARE’ and our contacts for this are Beth and Neil Gibbons who are valued volunteers.
Twiddlemuffs to Deeside Hospital, Mold Hospital and to various dementia homes in Mold and Chester. The ‘thank you’ cards we receive demonstrate just how much these items are appreciated for those who suffer from dementia.
Knitted items for children and babies to Save the Family.
Knitted hats for the homeless and also for the armed forces.
During the weeks before Christmas last year we knitted tree decorations which raised money for other charities we are financing this year:
The twinning of two toilets, plus soap and toilet tissue via Tearfund - £135.00.
A gift of £50.00 has already been sent to ‘Love Russia’ a charity that works with children who have left orphanages and are left with nothing or anyone to help them as they try to find their way in the world.
A donation of £50.00 will be given to ‘Save the Family’, a local charity where great work is done.
£25.00 has been sent to ‘Samaritans Purse which has enabled five children to go on a few days away teaching on the ‘Love of Jesus’. (Wendy Ninnes has liaised with us).
We would be delighted to welcome new members to the group and I can assure you of a good afternoon of banter and laughter, plus a piece of cake and a good cup of tea!
We are always on the lookout for more wool, so I would love all who read this please to search your cupboards and attics in case wool is hiding there! Or COME AND JOIN US and help us to help those around the world who need our knitting.
