Firstly, a very belated best wishes and prayers for you all for 2020.
Secondly, a huge thank you to all those of you who have participated in our Sunday services during January – what a blessed and exciting month!
We started on Sunday 5th with Prayer as we thought what does it really look like to be a church where people truly feel they belong; where lives are constantly being transformed and changed by the Holy Spirit; where we celebrate our relationship with God, and share the love of Jesus with others.
On Sunday 12th – Feedback/Vision Sunday – Anina fed-back to the congregations her findings following a questionnaire she had conducted shortly after she arrived on evangelism and mission; and we also spent time feeding back your input from the previous prayer Sunday. It is exciting to see how God has already stirred us into putting into action some of the findings that Anina presented, and the hunger there is to see the vision of ‘Living life in all its fullness’ (John 10.10) become more a reality in our everyday lives.
On Sunday 19th – Giving Sunday – we had the opportunity to pray and hear from God where He might be calling us to serve in the different ministries at St. Mark’s, in the local community, City, and on our daily front-lines, offering our time, skill, gifts, passions and financial resources. It was also an opportunity for some to lay down ministries which they had been involved in over a number of years. Your response has been amazing and very encouraging – so a big thank you to you all. We will be in touch very shortly with all those who oversee/facilitate a ministry related to the ministry and mission of St. Mark’s informing you of those who are interested, or want to continue serving in some way.
Lastly, on Sunday 26th – Commitment Sunday – we shared with you what we discern God wants us to focus on and commit to for 2020 relating Belong/Transform/Celebrate/Share, together with the words from Isaiah 54 vv. 2 & 3 about enlarging our tent and not holding back.
Belong: focussing on welcome and hospitality – starting a hospitality Sunday once a month where people open their homes to others offering a light meal
Be Transformed: focussing on prayer and testimony – praying throughout Lent on Mon/Tues am/Wed noon/Thurs pm in the Link for the faith building project
Celebrate: focussing on making more space for the Holy Spirit to lead us in our gathered worship
Share: focussing on equipping the people of St. Mark’s to share their faith – encouraging the whole church to engage with Talking Jesus course for the 6 weeks of Lent
Living life in all its fullness: Encouraging all to be in a Life Group
Enlarging our tent – ‘do not hold back: focussing on our faith building project
As our Vision Statement says ‘we believe every person has a part to play’ in the building of God’s Kingdom here in Lache, Saltney, Saltney Ferry and on our frontlines, so bless you and thank you again for playing your part this January, and please join me in continual prayer as we listen to God and discern His will and way for 2020 and the next decade.
